Thakur, also known as ‘Jannayak’, dedicated himself to strengthening backward castes and played a crucial role in introducing reservations for them in government services in Bihar in 1978. Born on January 24, 1924, he passed away on February 17, 1988. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed delight at the recognition, praising Thakur’s enduring efforts for social justice and empowerment.
