Delhi Police issued directives on Tuesday instructing security personnel stationed at the city’s Tikri, Singhu, and Ghazipur border points to remain vigilant following threats from farmers to recommence their protest on Wednesday and advance towards the capital.
The farmers have been persistently urging the Union government to address their demands, which include a legal assurance on the minimum support price (MSP), implementation of the Swaminathan Commission’s recommendations, provision of pension for farmers and farm laborers, and the waiver of farm debts.
On the seventh day of their march on Tuesday, the farmers remained stationed at the Shambhu and Khanauri points along the Punjab-Haryana border.
