The latest weather forecast from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) indicates that East and South Peninsular India will continue to endure severe heatwave conditions with no relief expected for the next five days. Gangetic West Bengal, certain areas of Odisha, and isolated regions of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal are forecasted to experience heatwave to severe heatwave conditions persistently.
Severe heat waves are also anticipated in Uttar Pradesh, coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Yanam in Puducherry from April 28 to May 1.
From April 28 to May 1, Northeast India is predicted to encounter a significant rainfall episode, coupled with isolated thunderstorms and lightning, attributed to a cyclonic circulation over northeast Assam.
