For the final snan (bath) of the Maha Kumbh at Prayagraj on the occasion of the Maha Sivaratri festival, thousands of pilgrims poured towards the Sangam, the meeting point of the Ganga, the Yamuna, and the legendary Saraswati, on Wednesday. On the final day of the Maha Kumbh, more than 1.44 crore people took the sacred dip until 6 p.m., surpassing the 66-crore record in total attendance, according to the Uttar Pradesh government. Devotees started congregating near Prayagraj’s numerous ghats around midnight, anxiously waiting to take the sacred dip at the Brahma Muhurta, while the air reverberated with chanting of Har Har Mahadev.
