The space agency of India has effectively launched a rocket carrying an observatory designed to investigate celestial entities, including black holes.
The launch took place from the Sriharikota spaceport at 09:10 local time (03:40 GMT) on Monday.
This marks the world’s second mission of this kind, following NASA’s launch in 2021.
The space agency expressed its aim to assist scientists in enhancing their understanding of black holes.
“We are looking forward to an exciting time ahead,” remarked Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairperson S Somanath following the launch.
The X-ray Polarimeter Satellite (XPoSat) from ISRO is set to undertake comprehensive research on black holes.
