Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued alert that Gujarat will experience extreme rainfall in next 2 to 3 days.
Due to heavy rainfall in past 2 days , parts of Gujarat had been inundated, displacing residents to a safer location. Navsari experienced extreme rainfall leading IMD to issue a red alert on the district on 26 August.
Gujarat chief minister Bhupendra Patel has directed officials to evacuate residents from low-lying areas to safer locations. His office said that the districts most affected by the heavy rainfall include Valsad, Tapi, Navsari, Surat, Narmada, and Panchmahal in South Gujarat.
