Heatwave News: IMD Issues ‘Red Alert’ in Delhi, Haryana, UP; Temperatures to Reach 48 Degrees

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for a heatwave in northern Indian cities, including Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, and western Uttar Pradesh. Severe heatwave conditions are predicted over these states for the next five days. This coincides with the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha election 2024 in Delhi and multiple seats in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana on Saturday. The maximum temperature on May 25 is expected to reach 47 degrees Celsius across the Delhi NCR area on polling day.
