At least eight people died and around 57 were injured when a 100-foot tall billboard was uprooted and fell on a petrol pump and nearby houses at Cheddanagar Junction in the Ghatkopar area during rain and gusty winds on Monday. Approximately 20-30 people are still feared trapped.
Metro services were suspended between Aarey and Andheri East metro stations after strong winds caused a banner to land on the overhead wire. Additionally, train services on the Harbour line were intermittently halted due to fluctuations in the overhead line equipment caused by heavy rainfall and strong winds.
