On Monday, Shehbaz Sharif took the oath as Pakistan’s 24th Prime Minister, marking his second tenure since 2022. He assumes leadership of the financially strained nation amidst formidable economic and security hurdles.
The oath-taking ceremony follows shortly after the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and the Pakistan Peoples Party reached a consensus on a power-sharing arrangement to establish a coalition government. Shehbaz previously led a coalition government from April 2022 to August 2023 before Parliament was dissolved ahead of last month’s general elections.
