Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced this morning that BJP veteran Lal Krishna Advani will be conferred with the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award. Describing it as an “emotional moment,” the Prime Minister praised Advani as one of the most respected statesmen of our times, emphasizing his monumental contribution to India’s development.
“I am very happy to share that Shri LK Advani Ji will be conferred the Bharat Ratna. I also spoke to him and congratulated him on being conferred this honour,” PM Modi said on X, formerly Twitter.
The late Karpoori Thakur, former Chief Minister of Bihar, known as “Jan Nayak” by many in his state, was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna last month, marking 35 years since his passing.
