Pit Bull Attack in Delhi Leaves Toddler with Three Fractures and Multiple Stitches

A pit bull in north Delhi’s Burari area reportedly attacked a one-and-a-half-year-old girl, resulting in multiple fractures and stitches. The incident took place on January 2 while the child was on a walk with her grandfather, as per the police.

The child’s grandfather mentioned that the pit bull’s owner failed to properly secure the leash, resulting in the dog attacking his granddaughter. He explained, “The dog clamped onto my child’s leg, and it took us some time to free her. She sustained multiple injuries, with three fractures in her right leg and requiring numerous stitches,” as reported by news agency PTI.

Various dog breeds, including pit bulls, are prohibited as pets in India due to their perceived “dangerous” and “ferocious” nature. In December of the previous year, the central government announced plans to decide on prohibiting licenses for owning such “dangerous” dog breeds within three months.
